Located in quaint downtown Avila Beach (just 1 block behind the Custom House restaurant), Alapay Cellars tasting room welcomes you to an uncompromising experience of wonderfully soft and full-bodied French-oak aged wines in an aquatic and cozy cellar atmosphere!
It's a tasting room like no other boasting two huge salt water aquariums that are located behind each of the tasting room's blue "world above" marbled bars. Each bar also has soft-upholstered chairs for patrons (and soon to be new friends) to sit and thoroughly enjoy their flight of Alapay wines. "Since the very first day we opened, we have always had bar stools for our customers. We want them to really take their time, enjoying the wines and our wonderful story. Our goal is for our new wine-tasters to leave saying "that was really fun, I'm glad we came in!" says co-owner Rebecca Remmenga.
A typical flight of Alapay Cellars wines will usually consist of two whites, nearly a half dozen reds, and followed by two wonderful dessert wines a Zinfandel Port and Late Harvest Viognier. Our staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, with even the winemaker Scott Remmenga spending much of his time behind the bar eager to talk about his wines.
Tasting is Waived with a wine purchase, otherwise it is just $25 per person.
The fun just doesn't end at the tasting bar either! With Alapay's expansive tasting room, the winery boasts a large selection of unique "wine related" gifts from all over the world. Shopping for that special item can be just as rewarding as tasting that amazing red! Our entire staff takes great pride in searching out those special gift finds that you won't find in most other tasting rooms.
